A motorised satellite system uses a single dish and LNB (the small plastic item on the front of the dish) to focus on a single satellite or group of satellites which are in a fixed location above the equator.
This has the advantage of being able to select a great number of channels from different satellite providers and broadcasters. So for example you could have a system which would give you BBC from the Astra 2 satellite as well as French , German and other language services from the Astra 1, Hot bird 1 to 5 and Hispasat satellites
The motor used to move the dish is called a DiSEqC motor mount. The receiver sends information and power through the coax cable, this means that only one co-axial cable is needed for installation.
INSTALLATION
Installation involves the setting up of your mount to track the satellites along the Clarke belt east to west, this is generally done with the aid of an inclinometer and a signal strength meter or spectrum analyser. Incorrect alignment usually results in the mount only tracking part of the arc and only a few of the available satellites being received.
WHAT CAN I RECEIVE
When correctly installed your satellite system will be able to receive a multitude of TV and Radio channels from around the world.
For channels available please click on Channel Listings . In general German channels are carried on Astra 1 satellite and Italian , Spanish and French channels are carried on the Hot bird series of satellites. Please bear in mind that some channels are free (free to air) and others require a viewing card from the broadcaster or other unofficial sources. |
